Audio Guestbook Frequently Asked Questions

What makes AudioGuestbook.ca unique is the passion and love we bring to our business as a couple planning a wedding of our own, our low rental costs, the variety of styles we bring, and that our phones have the ability to be used completely wireless (no wall outlet required)! 

1. You click the link on our website or send us an email requesting to book a phone for your event. Information at this stage will include the date of your event, location, and style of phone.
2. A few weeks before the event, you will send us the greeting you would like your guests to hear prior to leaving their message. This greeting will also be used for your call-in number.
3. A week before your event, your call-in number will activate and a six digit event code will be given to you to share with any guests that cannot attend the event but still want to leave a message.
4. You receive your rental prior to your event, and on the day of are able to set it up wherever you feel comfortable as there is no wall power required. Your guests are then able to leave sentimental messages throughout the duration of your event. 
5. Within three days after your event, the phone is returned to us to process your messages!
6. A week after your event, and the day after your call-in number closes, you receive a digital link to your messages. If you have upgraded to a CD, USB, or vinyl, we will coordinate with you on delivery.
7. You have your messages to listen to and remember for as often as you like!

We will have your pre-recorded greeting loaded onto the phone, so at your event you only need to lay the phone on a flat, stable surface in an area that has comfortable volume to get the best quality out of your messages.

A small battery pack is included in your rental that can be hidden behind the phone or underneath the table, but has the option to be wall-powered if you prefer. Once the phone is plugged into the battery pack or the wall, it is ready to use within five seconds. 

Pick up the receiver, hear the greeting, and leave your message after the beep!

Nope! Our phones do not require any type of connection outside of the battery bank we supply to you. If you want peace of mind knowing there is constant power, you have the option of plugging it into a USB wall outlet - but this isn’t necessary!

We offer free pickup in St. John’s, or we will deliver anywhere in the Avalon Peninsula for a small fee. You also have the option to have the phone shipped to you. Please reach out to us with the delivery location to get a shipping estimate. At this time the Payphone style of phone is not available for delivery.

If you are having the phone delivered to you in Newfoundland, we will coordinate with you or your event planner, but likely two days before your event. Alternatively, we can drop it off to you at the event if that is more convenient!

If you are having the phone shipped to you, it will be mailed out with enough time for it to be delivered three days before your event. 

We will always use tracked shipping on our phones, and if for some reason there is a shipping delay outside of your control, you will be refunded for the rental price once we have received the return of the phone.

You want to put the phone somewhere that will have less background noise, but accessible to all of your guests! One of the benefits of our phones is they are easy to move and set up wherever you feel comfortable. We also recommend at weddings having your DJ or MC make an announcement about the guestbook to ensure your guests know to use it!

Our current setup for recording your greeting is by 1) sending us a voice-memo from your phone or 2) letting us know that you will be leaving a voicemail on our business line, and we will transfer it that way. We will send you a link to a digital download, for you to preview what the recording will sound like.

This can be expected to be done at least two weeks before your pickup/shipment date. 

You can say whatever you want! We can provide you with suggestions, examples, or outlines to help you but we recommend making it as genuine and personal as you can! 

There is no time limit to how long your greeting can be, but keeping it relatively short and sweet as each guest will fully listen to your greeting before leaving their own message!

There is no limit to the length of each message or how many messages can be recorded onto the phone! You can have over 1,000 messages if you wanted! The digital storage of the phone far exceeds your rental time.

You can test the phone by picking up the receiver, listening to the pre-recorded message and hearing the beep. If when you put the receiver down to hang up the phone, and when you pick it up again you hear the greeting again, that is the phone restarting after saving your message.

Absolutely! We include a sign with instructions and prompts for your guests.

If the phone was delivered to you in Newfoundland then we will also pick it up the day after your event. If you had the phone shipped to you then we will provide you with a return mailing label and you (or someone you trust) just need to bring it to a post office within three days after your event!

The sooner we receive your return of the phone, the sooner you get your messages!

When we receive the return of the phone we extract the messages and can send them to you in a variety of ways. All rentals will receive an email linking to download the messages, but you have the option of upgrading to us downloading them to a physical copy such as a special USB, CD, or even a vinyl so that you have them at your fingertips to reminisce. 

You can expect to receive your digit link to your unedited messages one week after your event, the day after your call-in number closes as we want to ensure we grab all of these special messages.

If you are ordering a CD, USB or vinyl, we will work with you on delivery, and to make sure you are receiving the messages that you want.

We currently accept cash, Interact e-transfer, and card via Square.

We understand that things come up and life gets busy and sometimes there may be a delay in returning the phone. As we rent the phones for multiple types of events, there is a demand for these phones and frequency to rent them. 

If there is an issue returning the phone and you contact us within the three days of your return period, we will do our best to accommodate the situation. Our current late fees are $50 for the first 48 hours, and $30 for every 24 hours after that. 

If the phone becomes lost or damaged we will have to unfortunately charge up to a $300 fee (depending on the damage)  to try and replace the phone or reimburse customers that have booked it. We understand that accidents happen, so please let us know if there are any issues.
